To Export a Geospatial File

Geospatial file types are also referred to as GIS files.

Method 1 - Using the Map Imports/Exports dialog

  1. Open the Map Imports/Exports dialog by selecting one of the following:
    1. File > Export > Geospatial File Types > Map Import/Export Dialog
    2. Map workflow > Home tab > Primary ribbon group
  2. On the Exports tab, right-click the Exports folder and select New Export. A new export process is added.
  3. Right click on the export process and select the apporpriate GIS file type.
  4. In the Create dialog, select the output folder and enter a file name. Click Save.
  5. In the export process select the feature(s), define the spatial extents, Where clause if applicable, and select the properties to export.
  6. Right-click on the export process and select Export.

Method 2 - Using Export File Data

  1. Select File > Export > Geospatial File Types
  2. Select the GIS file type (*.SHP, *.MIF, *.TAB, *.CSV, *.GML or Esri FGDB) or Directory if applicable.
  3. In the Create dialog, select the output folder and enter a file name. Click Save. In the Add Directory dialog, select the folder to create the GIS files in, click Select Directory and OK. The Map Imports/Exports dialog opens. and the selected files or folder are added to a new export process.
  4. Select the features, properties and spatial extents to export.
  5. Right-click on the export process and select export.
